Ever wondered how cosplay conventions work in Japan? How to shoot at a cosplay-photostudio in Tokyo or Osaka? And what you should absolutely avoid when cosplaying in Japan, in order not to break etiquette? In this workshop, we'll share our personal experiences attending conventions as cosplayers while traveling in Japan. We'll talk about how to find events, buy tickets from abroad, and connect with other cosplayers through shared fandoms. You'll learn about key differences between Japanese and European conventions, as well as the important (and often unwritten) rules around cosplay and photography. We'll also cover how to fit conventions into your Japan trip, plan photoshoots in professional studios, and self-shoot if you're traveling without a photographer.
